Sciacca, Sicily
by keryn means
Sciacca, pronounced Shaka, lies on the southwestern coast of Sicily overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Busting with tourists looking for warmer climates and a beach to relax on this town comes alive in the summer, but quiets down by late October. Carnival brings a burst of activity midwinter, but the weekly market is the most action you may see the rest of the off-season. Tour the back streets, check out the Basilica, and eat your wait in fresh fish. And brush up on your Italian; not much English is spoken in these parts.
