2.) Visit More National Parks: National Parks offer endless exploration and adventure opportunities. Pack up the car and pick up a few friends or the grandparents and head to a National Park near or far. Want to do three in a long weekend? Consider a stop in Utah and visit 3 National Parks (Zion, Bryce Canyon and Arches National Park). We also love a summer trip to Lake Powell with a stop off at Grand Canyon.

2.) Visit more National Parks: The South Rim of the Grand Canyon is open year around and a can’t miss photo opp is of the watch tower. Built in the 1930’s as a replica of a prehistoric Indian tower, the new watch tower is the highest point on the south rim.

Travel resolutions don’t need to stress you out- in fact, they should do the exact opposite. Instead of making unattainable travel resolutions this year, pick 4-5 goals and destinations that you could easily get to. Every time you walk out the door consider it an opportunity for adventure. Here’s our list of 6 (achievable) travel resolutions for 2014.
1.) Take a road trip to a nearby state. Instead of thinking big trips and long distances, consider visiting a state nearby that you’ve never been to. We love big and small cities that offer great restaurants, cute boutique hotels, and one of a kind activities that you can only do in that city.
Road Trip Adventures- Historic Occoquan
Cool Road Trip: Historic Occoquan, near Washington DC, is a great example of a quirky town that checks everything off our list. Explore and discover all the wonderful attractions in Prince William and Manassas.

3.) Learn to cook a dish from your favorite country: An easy way to feel like you’re traveling even when you’re not, is to switch up your normal dinner options. Instead of pizza this weekend, look up a recipe on how to cook a meal from your favorite country. Did you have incredible shrimp and grits in Georgia? Try it! Was the tagine in Morocco absolutely delicious? Consider trying it out for yourself and be transported back to that trip.

4.) Learn something new: Most people try something new whenever they are on vacation- skiing, cooking classes, diving certificate, etc. This year, plan a vacation to an incredible destination that you can also try out a new skill or hobby. Love skiing? Try snowboarding. Scared to dive? Try snorkeling. Like hiking? Try mountain biking.

5.) Hike more: Instead of joining a gym, look for ways to lose holiday weight by getting outside and using the land as your equipment. Hiking, running, and even walking in a park can be great for the body and soul. We love taking on intense hikes with loved ones to make working out more fun.

6.) Live in the now. Instead of planning every second of every vacation, allow some free tiem to really let the experience sink in. What does the place smell like? What are the sounds that you only start to hear after a few moments of silence? Silence your iPhone and really take a break. Check out our favorite spots to unwind and unplug.
