Trillium Lake is one of the most photographed spots in Mt. Hood Territory and for good reason. With unparalleled views of the top of Mt. Hood (Oregon’s highest point) and inviting crystal waters that beckon visitors year-around, it’s no wonder why so many travelers flock here.

Just minutes from Government Camp and not too far from Timberline Lodge, Trillium Lake is perfect for fishing, camping, swimming, boating, and hiking. The 2-mile span of shoreline provides plenty of space for visitors to spread out and feel like they have the beach all to themselves.

With SUP (stand up paddle boarding) gaining popularity, more and more paddlers are taking advantage of the lake. Nature Outfitters like Mt Hood Adventure Company provide guided tours daily and offer board rentals for those looking to go out on their own.

Challenge yourself to get a photo of Mt. Hood from the water. Bring your camera or smart phone (in a water proof case with attached floaty) and SUP around the lake. The photos will be a fun way to show off your adventurous side and something new to add to the Instagram feed. If you’re feeling extra ambitious, you can also practice your SUP yoga for some epic photos with that backdrop.
