World-class resorts don’t stop at amazing rooms, they also offer top-notch entertainment.  Staying at the Sun Valley Lodge, guests have the opportunity to watch performances by Olympians and Grammy award winners as well as take advantage of a daily list of activities.  Here are some of our top picks to make the most of your Sun Valley Resort vacation.

Ice Skating – Home to several Olympians, Sun Valley offers year round ice skating in the shadow of Dollar Mountain.  The resort also offers lessons for beginners to advanced skaters for those looking to learn how to skate or improve their form.

One of the most unique entertainment options of Sun Valley Resort though is its summer figure skating performances, which feature World Champion and Olympic skaters.  The performers change from performance to performance, and can be seen throughout the season.

Outdoor Yoga – These complimentary stretch and relaxation sessions are a quick warm up for experienced yogis and a refreshing stretch for those new to the practice.  The focus is on enjoying the outdoors and letting the sun and fresh air awaken your senses.

Hike Dollar Mountain With easy access from Sun Valley Lodge and incredible views of Baldy from the top, this easy to moderate hike is perfect for the whole family. On your way up, look out for deer, elk and rabbits on the ground and eagles and hawks in the air. Also, hiking isn’t the only way to explore Dollar Mountain. Horseback riding is a great alternative.

Symphony and Concerts – Sun Valley Pavilion is the summer home of the Sun Valley Symphony, offering free concerts just steps from your room.  Also, throughout the summer, there are ticketed concerts that feature acts like the Beach Boys and Garth Brooks.  Make sure to pack a picnic if you plan on sitting on the lawn and maybe even some local wine and beer.

Trail Creek Cabin – One of the most memorable restaurants in the US.  Sitting out on the back deck, along side Trail Creek, enjoying a thick cut of steak is the best way to take in a summer evening in Sun Valley.  Don’t be surprised if deer come down from the mountains to graze in the nearby field.

Fly Fishing Instruction – Complimentary casting lessons are given throughout the week during summer on the front lawn.  This is the best way to get a taste for this unique form of fishing before heading out on a day or half-day trip.  The secret is really in the ease of motion, and our instructor was amazing at helping me relax into the flow.

White Clouds Hike – The best sunset view.  Right across from the resort’s driveway is the trailhead climbing to White Clouds.  An easy hike up the hillside, from the pro tee of White Clouds’ hole 5 you can watch the horizon come alive with the last golden rays of daylight. Also, Pete Lane’s offers free guided hikes to the top of White Clouds every Monday and Friday.

This is just the tip of the iceberg for Sun Valley Lodge Attractions.  Check out more things to do for a guy’s getaway or a romantic weekend, including wine tastings, Gun Club, and The Ram.
