This beautiful desert town in the Okanagan region of British Columbia is famous for its wineries and fertile farmlands, but it has a lot to offer families and makes for a great vacation for all ages.

Take a guided tour through the gorgeous desert that surrounds the town. Tours run from the Osoyoos Desert Centre throughout the day, and you could see rattlesnakes, as well as lots of endangered desert species.

All around Osoyoos are roadside farm stands selling the fruit you see growing all around. Depending on what’s in season, you can pick up cherries, peaches, apples, walnuts, apricots, and many other fruits, for cheap.

There are six wineries in Osoyoos, and many, many more just outside of town. There are companies that organize tours, in a bus so you don’t have to drive, or you can rent bikes to explore them.

The local First Nations run eight very successful businesses in Osoyoos, including a resort, winery, and this well-curated cultural center that tells the story of their history, and how they’ve adapted to being innovators in their community. They hold rattlesnake shows every day, and various cultural events too.

Watermark Beach Resort is perfect for families. The spacious suites offer full kitchens & laundry facilities, it has a lovely restaurant, the pool area is fab (with a waterslide) and there are onsite activities galore. You can even order a CSA box full of local produce for your suite when you book.
The sandy beach around Osoyoos Lake is perfect for playing on.
There are sandy beaches all around the lake for kids to play on, and then of course there is the lake itself, and all the activities that come with it. Here you can wakeboard, windsurf, jet-ski, and of course swim.
Heatstroke Cycle rents all kinds of bikes.
At Heatstroke Cycle you can rent a bike, a trailer, or whatever kind of equipment suits your needs, and either go maverick or take an organized tour of the area. They have electric powered bikes too, which are just perfect for getting about the wineries when you’re feeling wobbly.

When you see the bright pink OsoJus truck, be sure to stop and grab a smoothie or gourmet hotdog. The smoothies are all make with local fruit, and contain lovely extras such as local lavender and honey too.
Rattlesnake Canyon is a whole lot of fun.
Kids of all ages will enjoy the rides, amusements, climbing wall, and mini-golf at Rattlesnake Canyon. There are bumper boats with water guns, spinning rides, and chair swings.
