Family Fun at Red Fish Lake

Family

Red Fish Lake Lodge

Red Fish Lake Lodge

Planning a summer family vacation in Idaho? Look no further than Red Fish Lake Lodge.

About two and a half hours from Boise, the Lodge was built in 1929 and has cabin and motel style rooms to stay in, dozens of water activities like kayaking, SUP, pontoon boats and swimming, plus great hiking trails when you get water logged.

Red Fish Lake and Lodge are perfect for families wanting to escape the daily routine and truly want to unplug. With music on the lawn on weekend nights, it is the perfect way to unwind after a day on the lake. Check out the music event schedule for more details and who is performing.

Water activities on Red Fish Lake

Once you park your car and quickly change into your bathing suit, there are many ways to explore Red Fish Lake by water. Since this is a family friendly destination, kids are likely to make friends after just a short while and make memories to last a lifetime.

The cabins are located along the shoreline from the lodge. Depending on the level of comfort, you can choose between a simple, rustic camp site all the way to a luxurious cabin that sleeps 10 people.

If you’re looking for a great time to visit the Sawtooth Mountains, September and October are typically beautiful.

Rent a pontoon or sailboat or bring your own

The marina is the main attraction at Red Fish Lake with many boats and water adventures available to rent. They have everything from kayaks to stand up paddleboards, caneos to pontoon boats. If you want a guided tour of the lake, consider the afternoon or sunset cruise.

If you bring your own boat, they even have a gas dock to fuel your own boat.

Paddles on the marina dock

The lake is large enough for everyone to spread out and have their own space. Break up your day by planning morning and afternoon adventures and the rest of the time just relax on the dock or shoreline.

If you need a quick snack or lunch, consider grabbing food to go at the Red Fish Gazebo. When you check in, make reservations at the main dining room. We prefer to choose a later dining time so that you can fully enjoy all the day light hours.

Party on the beach

During mid-day, the main beach area near the Lodge is full of excitement and energy. Pack your umbrella, beach chairs, towels and sunscreen to fully enjoy a day on the lake.

Bar for adult patrons

After you’ve put the kids to bed, or if you planned a trip with a group of friends, gather at The Rustic Lodge for drinks. This is the perfect spot to grab a drink, meet new friends and tell stories from your lake adventures.
