A totally off the beaten path, not even listed on a map, road trip in Nevada is from Las Vegas to Area 51. While you won’t be able to get inside the military base, there are a lot of fun sights to see along the way that play into the whole alien theme.
Start here, at the Extraterrestrial Highway.
Little Ale'Inn in Rachel Nevada
About two miles outside of Area 51, stop at Little Ale’Inn for a cup of coffee and to talk to the locals that have lived in the area of Rachel. They are more than happy to share their UFO sightings with you.
Alien Museum
A musuem right at the turn of Extraterriestrial Highway. Can you guess what they specialize in?
A'le'Inn Fun Attractions
A’le’Inn has more than a couple alien gimmicky showpieces- one that is quite famous, the small spaceship held up by a tow truck.

Area 51 and the mysterious white box
Several websites list a “small white mall box” as the official mail box of Area 51. Make sure to stop by and take a picture. Hint: it is the only mail box on the side of the road.
No Photos near the back gates of Area 51
The closest you can get to Area 51 and the military base is this back gate. It is heavily guarded with several cameras, so make sure not to try to cross the gates.
