After you finish the House boating 101 course at Lake Powell, rent a speed boat and head out to Antelope Canyon. The twist and turns of the canyon are only accessible by speed boat or kayak and offer a very unquie experience to your trip.
Heading out towards Antelope Canyon in the late afternoon, we were the only ones on the water. At least it seemed that way. Since the lake is so big, it is easy to find your own place on the water and feel isolated from the rest of the world.
With a smaller boat it is easier to get close to the sides of the rock. The erosion over the last several years have caused some interesting marks in the rocks.
As you wind through the canyon, the color of the rocks change with the fading sun. Make sure to bring your camera, as you’ll want to capture each turn and twist.

If you want to kayak and then hike around the canyon, bring your kayaks on your smaller boat with you. Then dock your boat in the deeper water away from the walls. We saw a few empty kayaks beached and the hikers were picnicing nearby.
And just when you’re headed out of Antelope Canyon, another boater makes their way into the pretty canyon.
