For 175 years, Confiserie Sprungli, has been creating incredible desserts. You’ll likely have to wait for a table in their cafe, but it is worth it. Downstairs is a retail store where you can pick up candies, chocolates, and other goodies to take home.

More evidence of Zurich’s sweet tooth: Zurich’s oldest coffee shop, Conditorei Schober, has been serving up sweets and pastries since 1834, and you owe it to yourself to go there and order an amaretto spiked hot chocolate with some kind of decadent dessert.

Zurich is a beautiful medieval city with a hip populace. It is also rich in culture, as evidenced by the Kunsthaus, a fine art museum that rivals any other in Europe. From old masters to modern installations, there is much to take in.

Hipster hangout Haus Hiltl is Europe’s oldest vegetarian restaurant, and besides having amazing food, the place turns into a hip nightclub once they stop serving food. This place is a must-try, even if you’re usually a carnivore.

There are lots of great bars to be found in Langstrasse, the former red light district and best place to party. Café Casablanca is small and casual but very popular, and a neat place to hang out and sip on a high-end whisky or beer.

Besides being housed in a wonderful castle-like building, the Landesmuseum Zürich, is cleverly curated and shows the history of Switzerland off in a really fun way. From William Tell to WWII and everything else you could ever need to know.

Public transit in Zurich is really easy to use, which makes the city a pleasure to get around (and cheap too). There are streetcars, trains, and buses, that will get you pleasantly from A to B. Transit here is clean, and punctual.
